Freda never expected this work to become her calling. Like many women, her life unfolded in chapters — motherhood, business ownership, caregiving, and reinvention. She graduated from Syracuse University with a degree in Interior Design and a six-week-old daughter in her arms, later raised two children, owned and operated a craft store, and worked alongside her CPA handling bookkeeping and business operations. Each chapter taught her something about organization, problem-solving, and how deeply personal people's homes and belongings really are.

But the chapter that changed everything wasn't professional — it was personal.

Her mother was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer while serving as her father's primary caregiver. Almost overnight, Freda found herself navigating medical appointments, caregiving, housing questions, paperwork, support services, and the emotional weight of helping the people she loved through an overwhelming season. She remembers thinking: “If this is difficult for me — and I'm educated, resourceful, and organized — how must it feel for older adults who are frightened, grieving, or trying to manage all of this alone?” That realization changed the direction of her life.

When Freda entered real estate, she did it differently. Rather than chasing transactions, she spent years learning everything she could about aging, senior housing, caregiving, accessibility, and the emotional side of moving later in life. Today she is a Certified Senior Housing Professional (CSHP), a Seniors Real Estate Specialist (SRES), and a Certified Aging in Place Specialist (CAPS) — but more importantly, she brings lived experience to every conversation.

For more than a decade, Freda has become known not simply as a real estate agent, but as a guide through one of life's most emotional transitions. She teaches educational seminars across the Triangle every month, and through Milestone Moves Realty Group and her Empowered Aging programs, she helps older adults and families understand what comes next — whether that means aging in place safely, downsizing thoughtfully, moving to a senior living community, or simply starting difficult conversations before a crisis happens.

What she discovered through all of it is that downsizing is never really about the stuff. It's about identity, memories, grief, independence, and hope. Her role isn't to pressure anyone to move — in fact, sometimes the best decision is staying exactly where they are, with the right support in place. Her job is to help people slow down, gather information, and move forward with clarity instead of chaos.
